Mu\u0161evi\u010da na Institutu \u00bbJo\u017eef Stefan\u00ab zadnjih pet let z opti\u010dnim mikroskopom raziskovala zelo tanke plasti vija\u010dnega teko\u010dega kristala in opazila vrtin\u010daste strukture, imenovane skirmioni. Z numeri\u010dnim modeliranjem so potrdili, da je v teko\u010dem kristalu spontano nastala skirmionska mre\u017ea, ki je bila \u017ee pred leti napovedana s simulacijami in je bila do sedaj opa\u017eena le v tankih plasteh vija\u010dnih magnetov. Raziskava obeta globje razumevanje prakti\u010dne uporabe vrtin\u010dastih magnetnih nano-struktur za shranjevanje informacij, objavljena pa je bila v presti\u017eni reviji Nature Physics.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/tehnokrat.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Skyrmions-Nature-Physics-JSI-2017.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4292\" src=\"http:\/\/tehnokrat.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Skyrmions-Nature-Physics-JSI-2017-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tehnokrat.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Skyrmions-Nature-Physics-JSI-2017-200x300.jpg 200w, https:\/\/tehnokrat.si\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Skyrmions-Nature-Physics-JSI-2017.jpg 567w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Vrtin\u010dasta struktura snovi je v fiziki snovi dokaj eksoti\u010den pojav, ki pa je za fizike sila zanimiv, ker povezuje fiziko realnega sveta s posebno vejo matematike, imenovano topologija. Prav zaradi tega so Nobelovo nagrado za fiziko leta 2016 dobili David J. Thoules, F. Duncan Haldane in J. Michael Kosterli za razumevanje narave vrtin\u010dastih struktur v superprevodnikih, super fluidnih in eksoti\u010dnih magnetih. V teh snoveh so vrtinci izredno te\u017eko opazljivi, saj je potrebno snov ohladiti prakti\u010dno do absolutne ni\u010dle. V teko\u010dem kristalu pa jih lahko opazimo z opti\u010dnim mikroskopom pri sobni temperaturi.<\/p>\n<p>Vrtince pravzaprav poznamo iz vsakdanjega \u017eivljenja, vsakdo od nas je \u017ee prav gotovo v \u017eivo opazoval vrtince v dero\u010di vodi ali iz varne razdalje vrtin\u010dasti lijak tropskega orkana. Tudi pri \u017eivih bitjih sre\u010damo vrtin\u010daste strukture in sorodne topolo\u0161ke nepravilnosti, kot sta na primer vrtinec v \u010dlove\u0161kem lasi\u0161\u010du ali bolj kompliciran vrtinec na ko\u017ei prstov vsakega od nas. Ravno zato fizike tako zelo zanima narava in pojavnost vrtin\u010dastih topolo\u0161kih struktur, saj jih sre\u010damo na tako razli\u010dnih podro\u010djih od fizike, preko matematike do biologije. Objavljeno delo o vrtincih v teko\u010dih kristalih nudi neposreden vpogled v naravo topolo\u0161ke snovi, ki je trenutno eno od \u017eari\u0161\u010d sodobne fizike.
